Fire Extinguishers

Water

Water, the most commonly used extinguishant for Class A fires involving carbonaceous materials such as wood, paper and textiles.

Water extinguishers cool the fire, removing the heat needed to sustain burning and preventing glowing embers from re-igniting.

Water extinguishers are available with either gas cartridge or stored pressure type propellants.

ABC DRY POWDER

MULTI- PURPOSE ABC Powder is a truly versatile extinguishant which is used to extinguish Class A (carbonaceous) fires achieved by sealing the burning embers.

It is also used on Class B (flammable liquid) fires. (There is no requirement for Class C (flammable gas) fires under BS EN 3 but ABC is effective on these fires.)

ABC Extinguishers are available in a wide range of sizes. Extinguishers larger than 4kg can be either stored pressure or gas cartridge operated Powder extinguishers incorporate the balance valve feature.

The 1kg, 2kg and 3kg extinguishers are available as stored pressure type only, with an acetal plastic operated head.

CO2

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is used on Class B (flammable liquid) fires.
CO2 is extensively used throughout the food industry for its cleanliness in applications.

Carbon Dioxide extinguishers are available in a variety of sizes with aluminium alloy or steel cylinders for most applications.

SAFETY - CO2 can burn the skin if extinguisher is held incorrectly.

We recommend that all personnel are trained in the operation of portable fire extinguishers for their own safety and to maximise the effectiveness of the extinguishant.

Foam

TRICLASS fire extinguishers, with an AFFF additive, have the effect of improving a water based extinguisher, enabling it to fight Class A and Class B fires, by cooling the burning embers of carbonaceous materials and sealing liquid fires.

Available with cartridge or stored pressure propellants.

The JETSPRAY FOAM extinguisher is the ultimate alternative to Halon 1211, which has now been withdrawn. However, unlike Halon 1211, the Jetspray has no CFC's which makes it 100% ozone friendly.

Available in three sizes with stored pressure propellant tested for fighting Class A & B fires.

TRICLASS & JETSPRAY extinguishers feature a unique nozzle which ensures operator safety if in accidental contact with live electrical equipment.

ASPIRATED FOAM has a smothering effect, depriving fire of oxygen. Especially affective on Class B (flammable liquid) fires, it can also be used on Class a (carbonaceous) fires.

ASPIRATED FOAM extinguishers are available as a 9 Litre size with either gas cartridge or stored pressure type propellants.
